Orlando WR Walker picks Nebraska

ORLANDO, Fla. — Before his Sept. 29 official visit to Nebraska, Orlando wide receiver Dominic Walker was committed to Vanderbilt. After watching the Huskers' 30-27 win against Wisconsin, he severed ties with the Commodores.

Sunday, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Walker made official that he'd chosen instead to sign with Nebraska for the 2013 recruiting class. Walker told the Orlando Sentinel he decided several weeks ago, but waited until Sunday's Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Houston to announce it.

“Everything is just great for me (at Nebraska),” Walker told the Sentinel. “The coaching staff, the great facilities, everything ... 86,000 fans at every game no matter who they are playing. You can't beat that kind of support. They treat their players like they are the only thing that really matters up there.

“Plus, it's a great chance for me to come in and play right away and they have really made me feel like they want me to be a part of what they are doing.”

He's a three-star prospect according to 247Sports, Rivals and Scout, and a four-star recruit according to ESPN. ESPN has Walker as the 238th-ranked player in the country.

Offensive coordinator Tim Beck and wide receiver Rich Fisher handled Walker's recruitment.

Walker, whose first name is pronounced like “Dominique,” joins Akron, Ohio, commit Kevin Gladney as a wide receiver commit for the Huskers' 2013 class. Walker is the 17th overall commit.

NU's recruiting team rankings improved to No. 13 for Scout, No. 22 for 247Sports and No. 33 for Rivals.

Husker turnovers: A slippery slope
Bo Pelini has coached 68 games at Nebraska. When NUís turnover margin is positive or even, the Huskers are 35-2. When they lose the turnover battle, theyíre 13-18. Why hasnít Nebraska joined the nationís elite? More than anything, itís turnovers.
